A mixed-up world
Mar. 5th, 2005 08:41 amMike wrote that we were heading towards our "25th anniversary". But, well, 25th anniversary of what? I've seen him, what, twice in the past four years. Indeed I now time thing on the age of his kids, rather than on the age of him and me.
In fact, we now have the weird situation that people whom I hardly ever see know more about me than people I see every day, because the latter group doesn't read this blog. Indeed, people I don't even know might know more about me than people I meet every day. Now, that, as Hunter S might have said, is one weird fucking deal. Life didn't used to be like this.
And now that everybody is a publisher, are there any readers left? Or, rather, are there any other respondents who are not also publishers? Probably not. But all this writing and reading about what you have done sure does eat into your time. As JPRP once said, he was once tasked to write up what he had done at work, and, as a result, part of what he did at work was writing up what he did at work. Unless there is some external stimulus away from the writing a blog or reading other blogs, the end result is some kind of vanishing up your own collective anus. A worrying concept indeed.
Opened an account with Ultimate Bet yesterday. My validation code failed to arrive. Apparently BT Yahoo decides that it's spam. But, after e-mailing Ultimate, everything started fine. As usual, the software takes a little getting used to (and this morning I did not have any sound, for some reason). But it does offer triple-draw. On the downside, the hand histories are set up in an irritating way, and the number of limit games looks to be, er, limited. But the 40% bonus is paid on a "rolling" basis, which is a lot better than the system at Party. They also have a "Kill" game. Not sure if I like this or not! But it's certainly better than the Party Poker money-grabbing fest that is the Bad Beat Jackpot. My goodness that's a moneyspinner for Party.
