Sep. 7th, 2009 08:22 pmCarluccios for lunch. They've stopped their set lunch offer and the place was noticeably quieter as a result. I contnued the lo-carb campaign and stuck to mushroom soup and pork escalope. I manfully resisted nearly all of the fantastic bread they serve with their soup, but not the potatos that came with the pork.
Still, it's progressing nicely. The Youngster was not wrong. Once you get your body used to fewer carbohydrates, the desire weakens. What I hadn't anticipated was a marked falling-off in mood swings.
I don't want to get all hippie and beads here, but I'm really beginning to wonder whether the mood swings might have been exacerbated (some might say "enhanced") by refined sugars, processed foods, etc. When I've got mysel;f into a bit better shape I might start experimenting with unrefined rice, etc.
Bread, of course, has a considerable amount of "sugar" in it. That's why bought-in white bread turns brown so easily when you toast it, while home-made bread doesn't.

Looking at my Hold 'em manager numbers, I've just spotted what a horrific run I've been going through at my now bread-and-butter level, $1-$2 NL. Although the EV line is not wholly accurate. it's at least an indicator of how well you are running. And so, with my EV being about $800 beneath my actual winnings (at about mid-June?) it's now about $1.2k above it. Net result at $1-$2 is a steadly rising EV line and an obstinately flat actual line.
In fact, I'm trying to figure out how and where I've been winning money for the past 50,000 hands, because for the past 30,000 hands at $1-$2 I'm just breaking even.
