Well, 6.34am actually, but forgive me the poetic licence. One of the things that I did on Monday but forgot to mention was to go to Treasure Island Casino to collect my hire car. This consisted of the odd scenario whereby I picked up the keys, went to the car, made sure that it started, and then promptly left it there in the Dollar renting bay. Where at this moment it still remains. I suspect that the car hire people are wondering if I am just an insane millionaire. Must try to collect it either today or tomorrow.

I played the Flamingo morning tournament yesterday. 22 runners and we ended up chopping it four ways. I won one 50:50 and got lucky just before the chop when my 76s shove (five big blinds with the average only 7 big blinds) beat the large stack's call with K6o via the flop of 589. The quality of play was generally abysmal, but the rake is so big that I'm still not sure if playing these tournies is positive EV. Still, net plus $170 for the two hours.

I played three hours of cash after that, which I probably shouldn't have. I didn't feel great and I wasn't concentrating. This cost me $50 on one hand where I really should have folded my 2 pair to opponents' river bet (he had straight, as advertised). That opponent made a call on the flop that did not really have the implied odds is not really relevant. It was still a bad call

I popped over to see Mr O'Leary in the Bellagio after that, where after an hour of watching him play Blackjack in what looked to me a bit loike how I was approaching the 14-tabling at Stars -- hope to break even and make money from the comping. -- we drove to the Venetian and ate dinner at the grand Lux. I had a shrimp and chicken starter followed by the rib-eye. Very nice.

And that was about it for my day. I was shattered. I got back to my room at about 9.30 and attempted to sleep. Not good. In fact, it was as bad as the previous night, when, in the end, I only managed to doze by sitting upright in bed and allowing my head to droop forward. Any horizontal orientation brought on agonizing coughing spasms.

Needless to say, I wasn't looking forward to a second night of that. I woke up at 10.15pm, 11.15pm and 12.15pm, each time to ravaging coughing fits after only 20 minutes' or so napping. But then the breakthrough occurred. The amxycillin finally won at least part of the battle, and I began to sleep. By 3am I managed an hour or so lying down. Man that felt great. The coughing fits when they came were still intense, but I felt when they were over that my lungs were clear, and the sleep became steadier and more peaceful

So now here I am, at about 50% below par, but at least (a) hungry and (b) fancying a cup of coffee. My voice, while not quite back to normal, is at least recognizeable as me. Yesterday one of the dealers (Earl) said "I was thinking, that guy really looks like Peter from England, but it can't be, because of the voice".

So, with luck, if improvement continues apace, I'll be near 90% or thereabouts by tomorrow. Here's hoping.
