As the tumbleweed drifts through the $15-$30 level on Empire, I had a not unenjoyable hour twin-tabling at $3-$6. Getting top set against top two-pair helps, I guess (I thought that only happened in Omaha), followed by set-over-set (I thought that only happened in Omaha....) all helped.
E-mail from raketracker this morning stating that "We have plans in the works to be offering Party Poker shortly to provide the most secure long standing rakeback option. At worst under our approach you will wait a few days to signup, but the signup will be safe and endorsed by Party. "
Of course, what help this will be for those who already have Party Poker accounts is less clear.
But the implication appears to be that Party is, yes, going for the rakeback option as well as the "split-off" option.
Now, Party surely knows what is going on. If they have a choice between no custom from a person already holding an account, and obtaining that custom, provided that rakeback is supplied, then you have to assume that Party will turn a blind eye and accept the second deal. Half a loaf is better than none.
Meanwhile, Pokerstars looks to kick the Party skin poker sites while they are down (the best time), and offers a 25% deposit bonus up to $150. Same raked hands requirement as usual (did you read that, Party? SAME RAKED HANDS REQUIREMENT AS USUAL).

I dismantled my old 486 last night, to make it easier to throw away. I've kept all the little bits that might come in useful, while the rest will be surreptitiously placed in with the rubbish as ordinary domestic trash. Only the monitor will prove a bit of a problem. I've separated the tube from everything else, but it's still a bit heavy.
That, at least, will reduce the number of computers in the flat to four, and the number of monitors is now down to six.

Date: 2005-10-11 10:52 am (UTC)I'll wait to see what happens via a vis Party rakeback, I think, but I'll certainly be more inclined to play there under a rakeback agreement in future: were I to transfer my relatively meagre cash play I suspect it would still be worth maybe $50 a month. I'm bored with that ID anyway.
Party Rakeback and Empire
Date: 2005-10-11 11:26 am (UTC)Even though like I said I've never had rakeback since what I pay in big bet isn't as much as in limit, I've been following all this closely on 2+2. There are many conflicting claims, but what seems clear and answers your question about existing accounts, is that if it is in fact allowed and you sign up for rb through an affiliate and thus get a 2nd party accnt, then you have to use a different normal means of depositing and cashing out that the original account. Even were I interested in rb, there is no way I would use anything other than neteller since it is so convenient.
Regarding empire, I am glad you made a few quid yesterday but it appears you closed out your position too early.

Re: Party Rakeback and Empire
Date: 2005-10-11 11:49 am (UTC)Your point re Party reflected my suspicions entirely. I could get an account with rakeback going, but I wouldn't be able to use Neteller. My own intra-head jury is still out on this.
I can spend the rest of the month picking up bonuses on Ultimate and Stars. Empire are offering a PLAYOCT bonus but, given the cashout problems that occurred on Sunday, I'm not that great a fan of deposit bonuses there at the moment.
It was interesting to note that in the deposit bonus e-mail Pokerstars emphasized how all deposits were "ring-fenced". Kind of a "just in case you were worried about us going belly-up..." clause.
My Empire rakeback is cool because the funds go straight into my Neteller account. This obviates any need to transfer funds from poker accounts to Neteller at all. I just carry on playing, and the Neteller fund carries on growing. Then once a month I transfer funds from there to my bank account.
If I carry on winning, this should result in a nice build-up of "unbooked" bankroll within the poker sites themselves -- making it psychologicallly easier to play at higher stakes.
