Junior Delgado has died. He recorded one of the great reggae albums, Effort, in the early 1970s. I only found out he was dead because it was on the front page of a local "ethnic" paper (and, no, not Kosovan).

I've just got The Aupairs album from 1980 or thereabouts, Playing With A Different Sex. I bought this when it first came out and reviewed in in GH. In retrospect, it's amazingly influential. Echoes of their contemporaries Gang of Four and Wire resonate through the album, and the influence on Franz Ferdinand/The Kaiser Chiefs is obvious. A really great album.

The connection tot he office is working! IT came down and got it going, although quite clearly it wasn't my fault. He needed to run a disc with a DAT file on it, so that the Scanning engine could update. But the only way to get the DAT file was to have the Scanning Engine in operation. Smart, huh?

The guy then proceeded to break my modem/router when trying to introduce wireless security to my laptop. If this wasn't so annoying, it would have been funny. He put in a macaddress on the online Belkin software for the laptop, and put security to enabled. Unfortunately,m he forgot about the macadress for the Desktop, and so promptly locked himself out. One complete reset of the modem/router later (plus phone call to Belkin to work out how to do it), and half an hour re-disabling the security, and we were back where we started. At which point I chucked him out and said that I would work it out myself.

But I did learn about cmd.exe and IPconfig. So, not all wasted.
