A very good month
Jul. 1st, 2005 07:03 pmWell, it was an exciting month. About $370 in bonuses, no tournament performances to speak of, and some kind of revelation on June 20 that this was all a bit bloody pointless and it was about time I decided whether I was a man or a mouse. So I started playing $15-$30. Actually, part of my motivation was that I reckoned that a few hours of $15-$30 would put $5-$10 into perspective. But it all seemed to start rather well and has continued in that mode.
However, I have to admit that it's been a lucky run, and we can't yet know how I will cope with a bad run. Every time I have been suffering ( a couple of $550 downs) I seem to have clawed my way back. On the plus side, I am finding most of these players easier to play against. At least I usually know where they are coming from.
The individual games are broken down below.
Now, whichever way you look at it, $3,395 is not chump change. In fact, it's a goodly proportion of what I expected to make on the year. My spreadhseet graphs have all had to be rescaled to cope with lines shooting almost vertically under old comparisons. Although, of course, when you rescale them the performance somehow looks less impressive. The immediate question now is, what do I have as a target? $20,000 in a year? $50,000? $100,000? Or should I settle for a much steadier game?
My bankroll actually in Party is still low for the game that I am playing, so I can't even think about taking any money out yet (another $5,000 profit required before I can think of doing that). But, and here's the good part, none of these players frighten me. I can see their thought processes far better than I can at the lower levels, where I had simply given up trying to understand some people.
On the counterpoint, there isn't a lot of easy money flying around. Most of the dollars have to be won, rather than letting someone else lose.
And now, I am going to celebrate my magnificent performance (by which I mean getting back from a monkey down to $17 up this evening), by ironing my shirts. Man, do I live, or what?
