Why would you want to know this?
Jan. 3rd, 2006 01:59 pmI found a book on the train last week. It was Does anything eat wasps, a collection of questions asked in the Last Word column of the New Scientist.
At first I wondered if it might be part of that marvellous book-transfer experiment, where you leave a note in the book asking the recipient to read it, and then to leave it behind in some random place. In my case, the random place would quite probably be either (a) my bedroom (in which case the chance of it being found by a stranger would be remote indeed) or (b) the same train, but heading in the opposite direction (in which case the book might spend the whole of its useful life travelling between Dartford and London Bridge). But I digress.
