"It wasn't Roro, it was Lolo, and it wasn't next door, it was Auntie Laura's", I was told in no uncertain terms by Jan, who seems to persist in the naive belief that journalists deal in truth rather than stories. I tried to point out that fact-checking a story about a dog's name in Worcestershire was not that easy at 7am on a cold winter's morning, but was promptly dismissed with the line "I'm only doing to you what you would do to me if I made a mistake". Fair do's.

I backed up a year's worth of LJ posts last night and will continue backing up tonight. I'm not sure that there is anything of any worth in the writing, but it would be sad to lose it, just in case.

My publication appears to have been reclassified from "newsletter" to "daily", without anyone bothering to inform me of the fact. The changes entailed are mainly technical (different people market it; different people sell it), but it kind of brings about the final divorce of the product from its old Evandale upbringing. I'm now much more within the Insurance Day/Lloyd's List stable, which is good for me, er, I think (until they decide that a 15-year-old can do my job for half the wages — not realizing that it's impossible to get 15-year-olds to get into work at this time of the morning, every morning). However, my boss is still the head of newsletters. Once again, I'm an outsider even within the subset of outsiders -- working in one area and yet in a chain of command in another. All a bit weird.
