Tax regimes
Jun. 15th, 2013 10:32 amI'm a bit puzzled by The Guardian's line on Cameron and his talks with the British Overseas Territories. Instinctively I would have thought Guardianistas would have been against the almost colonial line that Cameron is taking ("put our house in order first" indeed!) and supported to Territories' line that, although they might share a monarch with the UK, that doesn't make them part of the UK's "economic house".
But, no, TG seems all in favour of a clampdown on tax regimes such as that of Bermuda, which, as Bermuda's PM pointed out yesterday, has been in place since the early 19th century – rather longer than the UK's. And The Guardian has nothing but praise for "tax incentives" in parts of the UK. One rule for us and another rule for them?
