At about 7.30pm this evening, Rob Lissenborough (sorry Rob, I hope I spelt that right), ex Reading tournament specialist and Birks-Blog reader, and on holiday here for a while, stood up from the table and asked me how long I planned to carry on playing.
"Until I'm unstuck", I replied, having seen KK from the Small Blind hit a flop of K83 rainbow (yes, really! The dream theoretical flop!) with seven limpers and then lose to A7s after it came runner-runner hearts, and then seeing my suited connector flush (76s) lose to Rob's T4 suited. Irrational fear? Pah! Matt clearly doesn't realize how my luck defies the odds....
And, well, unstuck I did get, eventually, to the tune of a $4 profit.
I also met Al_Capone_Junior from the 2+2 forum (who is a poker dealer in LV), Linda Geenen, who dealt at our table, and a guy down from Dallas who was thinking of trying to make it as a professional. So, all in all, a very entertaining evening at the table.
The funniest hand was when AC Jnr and I went to war on a flop of AA5 two hearts. Turn brought an 8 of spades and the river brought the 5 of diamonds. At which point I checked and so did AC Jnr. He showed 76 of hearts and I showed 32 of hearts, for a split pot, both of us playing the board.
I'm glad another heart (apart from the four) didn't come. Two flushes under flushes within half an hour would have started to make me feel paranoid. Of course, the only reason that I went to war in the first place was because I was on semi-tilt, and I usually take a couple of hands of steam to get rid of it.
++++
People say that they often catch colds from the recycled air in aeroplanes. I must catch colds from the recycled bullshit heard in the Bellagio, because today I cam down with a stinker. Thank god it's at the end of the holiday.
Oh, and Grubby put in an appearance as well.
I've now gone 25 hours of play without flopping a set.
On the plus side, the one time that I got Aces today, I won the hand.
And now, I need some sleep. This may be the last post I will make before I get to the airport. So, net plus for the fortnight, $160 or thereabouts. Ugh.

Another heart comes on the river. I check. Two more checks. Final hand bets. I make crying call. He shows A7 of hearts for flush.
