We Shall Not Be Moved
May. 5th, 2007 06:32 pmIt's darned hard keeping up with what's going on at Ultimate sometimes.
For a while it's been clear that the UB bonus dollars system, clocking in as it did at about 4¢ to 5¢ a hand at $2-$4 limit, was head and shoulders above any other deposit bonus and FPP redemption system going.
I just threw a grand in there for a $250 redeposit bonus, and sat down to play an hour, which I could expect to generate the equivalent of $8 or $9 if playing at two tables (and about 40% more than that if I accumulated 1,000 points in the week), when I noticed that my UB points didn't seem to be going up at their normal cracking rate. What, I wondered, was afoot?
In addition, I received about $60 into my account last week for "time played".
Well, it would appear that even UB was getting fed up with the rocks playing its limit games just for the bonuses, and has changed the rules so that you only get the points for the hands to which you "contribute". Obviously, for tight players, this is a death sentence when it comes to accumulating UB points, cutting the generation rate by about 80%. And it would appear that they compensate you for this with something like a dollar an hour for sitting at the table and being dealt in.
I'll have to play for a week or so to see how this impacts the bonus accumulation, but my instincts are that I might earn more from some $100 buy-in NL tables or even more from some serious multi-tabling at the $25 NL buy-in tables.

As I mentioned in my reply to Pete Doubleday's post below, my shoe has been found! Woohoo! I wonder how long sea-mail takes from Vietnam? Will my shoe end up sinking on a container cargo ship somewhere off the coast of Madagascar?
All of this is exciting stuff.

My failure to connect to any wireless facilities at various airports had convinced me that my settings were up the spout, but I seem to be able to connect to my router at home without any difficulty. All very complex.
I haven't tried the physical connection to the machine yet.
All of the photos are on that machine, so it would be easiest for me to upload them from that machine. Later.
