Some pictures to accompany the precious post.

This place and the place pictured below struck me as two of the cooler places to live near Monte Carlo. Both, btw, are in France.

A view of the Monte Carlo Bay from the "other" (i.e., east) side. The tennis courts are part of the Monte Carlo Bay Country Club where, I assume, the Monte Carlo Open is held. Given the cost of real estate in Monaco, I dread to think what the annnual membership fees must be.

Below: The final car collection.....

Just after I said that I hadn't seen many Porsches, they turned up in droves. Without an Essex accent to be heard...

The final day just seemed to attract a particularly fine collection. Not included in the following pix is an Audi R8 (not Ben Grundy's, either, unless he has registered it in Monaco)

I think, a Ferrari, a Merc, and a Bentley. If you aven't got a Convertible, you are NAFF City....

... even if it's a Rolls.

NICE:

The port.

Off for a pleasant day out...

The War Memorial and, of course, the mandatory tat-mobile.

A view of the port from up on the hill in the old fort, now reconstructed as pleasant gardens.

Another view of the port. The Kookaburra is one of the cafe's by the water, Australian green/brown in colour.

I think this was about as high as I got. You can see the airport sticking out like a sandbank from the main coastline.

Under the waterfall. Stomach is courtesy of too many Haribo Gummibears this week....

The view from the hill down onto the main part of Nice, including the Vieux Ville. The Mosque is a part of the Old Town.

One for James.

The Oyster Restaurant in Garibaldi Square. Behind it (and leading down to the sea) is the Old Town.

The one-line Nice tram system. No cars or other buses are allowed on the "U" shaped-route that the tram takes.

No Sunday in France is complete without a school playground where men gather to avoid women. Ostensibly their reason for gathering is to throw silver balls into the air.

POKER

Mr Channing on his way to cashing in the E5K 6-max.

James the dealer was at my table on day one. He is from Austria. Chinese-Australian Dave Saab said to him when he was at our table "you don't look very Austrian". James replied "So? you don't look very Australian".

While the big guys were heads-up, Ami Barer (not in picture) taught this young girl the basics of heads-up NL tournaments. She seemed to be getting the hang of it fairly quickly, running nine for 10 when this picture was taken....

The curtains are opened shortly before the end.

Woodward and de Korver get it heads-up.

Pieter de Korver, the winner, pockets E2.3m

Matt Woodward has just won E1.3m and become a millionaire. And all the poker players in the world know how he feels at this very moment..... It isn't about the money....

Even the crap cars have class....

Thanks for the photo. She seems to be in a hurry. I guess you were on full-zoom and she was rather perturbed by the suggestiveness of your camera.

Pictures of you are displaying quite a gut. I take it the low-carb diet when tits-up?

Sounds (looks) like you had a great trip. Hopefully you found the whole experience worthwhile, even though the poker part was somewhat disappointing.
