Further Party Fun
Aug. 4th, 2006 08:10 pmOK guys, you are going to enjoy this. Iggy, if you are reading this, now you can see why 2+2ers do their heads in when playing at this site, and only put up with it because of the numbers of fish:
The story so far:
1) I was playing at a table when the bad beat jackpot was won.
2) This was at the same level as the bad beat.
3) This means I qualify for the weekly $100K freeroll.
4) But, when I try to register, it tells me that I'm not eligible.
So, I e-mail Party, telling them the above, and asking what I did wrong.
Here's the reply:
Dear Peter,
Thank you for contacting us.
We understand that you referring to the instance where the Jackpot was hit on the 2nd of Aug 2006 at 13-02-12 hrs EST. You were playing at the table 1275890 at that time.
The hand you were in at that time was hand# 4860680330. The hand begun before the jackpot was hit and the hand ended after the jackpot was hit. The table characters, with regards to stakes and game type are also the same. However, the table where the Jackpot was hit (# 1282113) was a 10 player (max) table while the table you were at, was a 6 player (max) table.
You have not won an entry for the same reason. We wish you all the best!

Date: 2006-08-05 02:53 pm (UTC)I think I'll just let it lie, but it would be fun to e-mail them back saying:
"ah, so, now you change it round! That won't do. You are just making it up as you go along. I am going to report all of you, you scumbag cheats. I will post the original e-mail and your correction on 2+2. I will forward your communications to Mitch Graber. You are trying to cheat me! I demand my place in the freeroll!"
Except, of course, that playing the freeroll (about 2,000 runners) would probably be negative EV for me anyway, in that I could be playing proper poker instead.
A bit surprising that the bad beat jackpot was won at a 6-max, though, eh? And a bit stingy of Party. Not only do you have to be at the same level, at the same type of game, but it has to have the same maximum number of players to boot.
If anyone didn't think that the Monster Bad Beat promotion was crap beforehand, if this happened to them, I'm pretty sure that they would now.
And yet, the games have definitely got fishier. Whether they have got fishier to the tune of half a big bet per hour per table (i.e., $6 an hour is my current estimate) is another matter. Probably not.
Jeez, that's six bucks an hour I'm paying to scumbag tournament players. What do they ever do for me?
