In this journal of woe and busto-land, I was going to add another pair in the shape of decker (http://decker2003.livejournal.com/), who was $150 up after 1500 hands of $3-$6 on Full Tilt and his last $400 down after 3000, but then he found $111 in rakeback sitting in his account and, miraculously, still has $45 of it left. So, no online busto tale there. An exemplary tale of optimism to depression in ten easy months could not be easier to find than with poor old decker. "I started this year thinking that I might have my best year ever", wrote decker (or some such similar). Now it turns out that 2006 will be his first losing year since, well, since internet poker started for him. Ahh yes, 2006 will be remembered as tough.

And then Threebet33, who isn't anywhere near busto and is still up for 2006, still managed to report his worst losing run ever. Of course, this tends to happen when you play games about which you admit you know nothing. You win a bit, then do your bollox, and then return to the game at which you "know" you can win it back. At which point you do your bollox again. See Twenty-One Outs Twice.

But then Mikey chose to spoil the party by saying that he had been running well. This despite his inability to spot the bit at the top of the table of a PLO game that has the "High-Low" bit missing. Easily done. Er, well, not, actually.

A quick 10-minute visit to dentist yesterday lunchtime meant that the gym was missed. Damn. And now I've got bits of expander stuck in four of the non-spaces between my teeth, so that the required spaces can be created. No, I don't know what's going on in this ridiculously complex process either, but I do know that it feels as if I have giant bits of orange peel stuck between my teeth. Flossing here is out as well, although brushing is no problem.

Uggh, god knows how I will put up with 18 months of expanders and retainers and braces and shit. Still, it's something that I've always promised myself when I could afford it. Rock on middle-aged crises....

It is easy. I do it all the time. I know at least one other person [livejournal.com profile] nworbsirhc who admits to having done the same thing.

I don't know that I'm necessarily running good, but the gloom and doom around the blogosphere has been such that I thought I'd mention a good night. I guess I'm $350-400 up for the month, which is pretty reasonable given my shameful wasting of $216 in FTOPS on Saturday.

What's scary is that I have mostly made money playing the wrong game, although I had to wake up and play properly to manage it last night. I even once made the money in a SNG, for goodness' sake. Actually, the latter isn't too surprising, since my VPIP in the early stages is unlikely to reach double figures and Omaha, in either form when for lowish stakes, is a game that seems often to inspire punters to go away quickly. Getting ITM without having played a hand is no more than unusual.

ITM without playing a hand? Ahh, the old days of NL HE sit'n'goes .... It won't last.

I've smacked in an all-in bet after hitting the nut flush on the river in PLO, when playing on my laptop. Unfortunately the colour rendition on my laptop tends to make the green considerably darker than on my desktop, hence the easy confusion of clubs and spades, and the transformation of my nut flush into two pair Aces. Unfortunately, I was called. Fortunately, my two pair aces was good. He must have thought that I missed my flush draw. Well, in a way, I did.

But I haven't done it again....

Hi-lo / hi-only mess up is a classic. I have done it numerous times. Both ways and including tournaments.

Yesterday I got dealt AJ and J9 while 2tabling. Played both hands to the river thinking I had AJ in both. Luckily I made a pair with the 9 on other table and it was good.

Back in the days in stars Omaha8 I had KK23 in AKK flop, we capped every street with my lone poor opponent who had AAKx, ...wait how can he have that! After careful investigation I found out that in reality I had QQ23 not KK23, and low did not get there either =(

My favourite error when multi-tabling is smacking in a bet from the blind on the turn, after the flop has been checked round; this is a bet which I know my tight opponent is more than likely to fold. A nano-second later a second opponent, whom I had not realized was in the pot, calls me.

But, no, I'm afraid that I have never played a game by the wrong rules since an episode in 1979 at Tony Holden's, when I forgot that the hole card was wild if paired. That cost me £300 to Dave Allen. I've been very careful to check that I know the rules ever since, much to the bemusement of many a Las Vegas dealer.

Well now we can mess up by joining a 5-card draw table and playing the game as 2-7 triple draw. I drew once, bet the pot with my 8-draw and won. Then I realized what the game was and decided to leave. But I couldn't get out in time to prevent me getting dealt Aces up. Two hands, two wins. One utter donkey.
