Why is spring a good time online?
May. 1st, 2005 10:45 amFor four years now my poker performance online has followed a similar pattern. A poor early January, followed by a recovery, followed by VERY good months leading up to July, followed by a fall-away, and then a good late December. Sure, there have been slight variations, but the pattern is remarkably consistent.
Now I know why. Apparently, just as spring/early summer is when the housing market does well, so it is the time when most "new" players come into online poker. Why should this be? I dunno, but it does at least explain my winning patterns.
Most of the real dogs go broke by July, hence the hard grind from late July through to Christmas, when te holiday players appear.
So, now is the time to fill yer boots at higher levels. By the end of July, the party will be over.
Absolutely ripped PArty to shreds this morning. Not often that I flop a nut flush on Table 1 at the same time as I river a full house on table 2. And these were loose "pay you off, don't ask me to fold" tables. Ker-ching.
I'm giving up on Betfair for a while. One day I will publish the e-mail that I sent to them (no reply received after the initial acknowledgement, obviously). But basically the software sucks so much (and the rake is so onerous) that the games would have to be ultra-soft for it to be worth playing there.
I took out a grand and I am tempted to send a hard mail letter to the CEO telling him that, because the online poker service is so poor, I will no longer be using the betting service either. That might get him a bit concerned about brand dilution.
