I do my best not to get annoyed by small things these days, although a couple of them got to me at work this morning.

First, my log-in script seems to be operating so that the forms data autocomplete on the web is disabled, which it wasn't before. Curiously, the default doesn't seem to change every time I log in, but only intermittently. The IT support guy in this office logged out and logged in and the same thing happened. IT Central Help desk said that this was unchangeable. Then IT boss-man e-mails me and says that password caching is disabled (which is understandable), but forms data isn't. So, is it or isn't it? We still don't know.

A minor annoyance in the grand scheme of things, but, annoying nevertheless.

Then I asked HR to provide form P11D, as requested by Geoff, and they e-mailed back to say that they didn't provide them any more and that "everything was covered by flex". What does that mean? Well, we have some kind of Beneflex scheme where we arrange our benefits online, once a year. How this eliminates the need for tax forms, I am not sure. I shall leave it to Geoff and HR to sort it out. As I say, a minor irritant, but the kind of thing that I like to do without.

Gutshot came up with the idea for a Christmas hamper for NINA (Nippers in Need Association). Unfortunately, nearly all my spare cash this Festivus will be allocated to RATS (Railbirds And Talentless Scumbags).

I spent ages this morning trying to think up some witty comments relating to the elimination of the Norwegians by the might half-nation, Slovakialess Czech Republic. "Your boys took a hell of a beating tonight" would be one pleasant phrase, perhaps pointing out how the Czechs showed "Churchill Spirit" to beat the oil-rich Skandos.

Unfortunately, nothing witty came to mind.

I'm not sure how I feel about the Swiss beating the Turks. At least it means that you will be able to get a kebab during next year's World Cup. However, I was quite looking forward to a potential Germany-Turkey clash in Munich's Allianz Stadium. Blood on the streets, I reckon. It's hard to imagine a Germany-Switzerland game stirring up the same level of passion.
