The Darkness
Mar. 27th, 2006 07:18 amOne of the few things less pleasurable than getting up at 4.15am in the morning is getting up at 4.15am in the morning the Monday after the clocks have gone forward. Still, it wasn't as tough as I expected. Clearly those many trips to Pacific Time and then back after a couple of weeks have inured me to such minor shifts in time as a single hour.
Yesterday was a good day at the tables. After being more than $100 down at Party (but pleased with my play and not "coming off the rails" as I felt I did on Thursday) I clawed my way back to $100 up. For some odd reason, the Party games seem softer on Sunday morning UK time than they do on Saturday morning. This is the reverse of historical precedent. Maybe it's just a coincidence on small sample size.
Then I ripped up Virgin's $5-$10 game for another hundred, and finally I took a hundred off the $5-$10 game on Ultimate.
Later in the day I revisited Party for a couple of rounds (nothing going, won $20) and UB's $1-$2 to work off some bonus dollars. This last visit lasted a mere round. The rocks have taken up residence at $1-$2 in UB-land, and I will have to play $5-$10 at UB to work off the bonus dollars. A lot of variance there, but the $1-$2 last night consisted of nine players with VPIP's of 14% or less. Oh, but I did win $2.50 in my single round, with bugger-all. God bless weak-tight opponents, I say. At least if you are hitting-and-running.
++++
ITV4 is rerunning the three-part Homicide where Felton, Kay and Bolander get shot. Anyone thinking of making a crime series in the US just has to look at series three of Homicide to see how it should be done.
++++
Top of the Pops featured The Strokes last night. In the little subtitled commentary at the bottom there was the classic line "Justin and Albert went to the same Swiss Boarding School".
Yeah, rock'n'roll rebellion, man.
