Apr. 8th, 2006 01:14 pmIf there had to be a theme for this week (which, of course, there doesn't; it's a blog), then it might be "be careful what you wish for". As long-time readers might be aware, there has been a kind of long-term battle between me and some readers over what level of stakes I should be playing at, mainly because I am (in their view) horrifically overbankrolled. What I suspect is happening in most cases is self-projection. It's "I know what level I would be playing at if I was him, given his level of ability and his bankroll".
Now, as we have (sort of) concluded, there are other factors to consider — desensitization, emotional stability, and the like. I might move up to 20-40, win $60,000 within six months, but be worse off.
How? Well, let's look at some of the commentaries this week, starting with Dr Pauly (http://taopoker.blogspot.com/). Here, you might imagine, was a guy who really was close to getting it all (well, that's what some people thought). This is the final part of his post from April 3rd:
