Anyone who still harboured a residual belief that any of the fucks ruinning (running? ruining? whatever) these poker sites have the faintest idea what they are doing, or that coders should be allowed out to play at any time before midnight, only needed to look at the sequence of balls-ups made by Ultimate Bet on their Hand History restrictions, which went from limitless, to four, to 100 (but no back-loading) and back to limitless, for no apparent reason apart from the fact that the programmers had no idea that anyone would want more than four hand histories without closing and reopening the hand history window.

However, if you still believed that the technical operators of the sites had some vague idea of the real world (although surely anyone who works for a company of any size would by now have disabused themselves of this notion) how about this communication from Pokertracker Pat.

Referring to the most recent Party Poker "upgrade" (the one which has the annoying tautology/redundancy of "$xxx USD" EVERY HAND) Pat wrote the following:

They emailed me last week and told me the new hh format should not have even gone out in the last update and they would be changing it back. Who knows when that would happen though.

God help us.

One thing that I couldn't really post before I got back from the US (I get paranoid about these things) is the intense value available at the Las Vegas mall outlet (once the Belz Shopping Mall). If I ever go to Vegas again, I really must just take an empty suitcase. As it was, I bought two jackets (one silk, one half silk/half-wool) two pairs of Adidas (one gym, one casual), six shirts (two of them perfect Van Heusens), a leather belt, two pairs of slacks, a pair of Levis and another pair of denims, a Levi's cap, all for $430 or thereabouts. I could have spent that on one of the jackets alone in Aquascutum. And I could have picked up a couple of pairs of Calvin Klein jeans for $55, but I felt that my suitcase might have been approaching bursting point, so I restreained myself.

Only $12 by cab to get there and stuff is half the price on the malls on the Strip. Not to be missed, although the Chinese eatery was a bit disappointing. Should have stuck to the ice-cream bar....
