I'm afraid that the stress today dealing with DHL (eventually cancelled the order after they failed to turn up for the third time --- now I have to get the money recredited to my Amazon account -- which also doesn't seem to balance, btw), Followed by the even worse stress of getting a letter from Citibank saying that they had lost a cheque in clearing that I had paid in on January 26th, and that they would be debiting my account by $2,000, despite it having been cleared for withdrawal by me on February 15th, has left me so stressed out and incapable of dealing with the world that I don't feel up to living, let along posting. I went up to Canary Wharf to see Citibank about this, with three separate examples of them losing cheques through clearing.
Fucking hell, it's hard enough winning the money, and then you have to prise the cheque out of Pacific Poker, (ordered January 5th, arrived January 25th). Then you pay it into the bank, and on March 3rd, it gets taken back out again, and I have to go cap in hand to Pacific Poker asking for them to recredit my account. With luck that will have happened by March 15th or thereabouts (maybe it won't happen at all and I'll end up two grand in the hole for this), which means that my best-case scenario is being back where I started after 10 weeks.
And I paid in a Party Poker cheque for $2k at the same time. What are the odds that they lose that one as well? Why does this shit happen to me? I really just feel like jacking everything in sometimes. Struggling with the incompetence of other people just doesn't seem worth it. A delivery company that can't deliver goods, a bank that can't process cheques? How do they survive?
It will mean completely recalculating my bookkeeping system, but I think I will have to accept that the "living half in another currency" system just isn't feasible when the rest of the world is so useless. I'll just swallow the extortionate exchange rates, put the money into Neteller and transfer it from there to my UK account. At least I know that works. Citibank is a collection of incompetent cunts. DHL is a collection of incompetent cunts. The world is shit.
