Grammys

Ouch. I was the Evening Standard reporter who penned that cliche about Stevie Wonder. Yes, I knew it was a cliche when I wrote it; yes, I know it wasn't even true, in the sense that the Grammys are obviously a youth-free zone (ID please! Sorry sir, you're under 35, you'll have to come back when you're older...); and yes, I felt bad about it at the time. But it was 6.30 in the morning, there was about 10 minutes to deadline, I had a pile of agency copy to re-write, I had got bored of the story by that point, and... none of that is really an excuse, is it?
Your posting is a salutary reminder that, when you write something that is crap, the newsdesk might not notice, the sub-editors might not notice, your other colleagues might not even notice. But someone, somewhere, will.

"A penitent hack".

PS A thought occurs: you read that far down the story? Jeez, don't you have anything better to do with your time?
