Ahh, back in the office. The joys of Spring. Well, not yet.

Whilst catching up with some tv last night I fired up the laptop and ambled through 250 hands single-tabling at 50¢-$1 while watching a biography of Piaf and another biography of M R James -- an unusual pairing whom could, theoretically, have met many times, although I doubt that they did.

What's this, though, I hear you ask. Single-tabling at 50¢-$1? Has the man suffered a stroke?

No, it was just that it was on Noble Poker, where I signed up via BonusWhores the day before the Party takeover was announced. So, it was new software and (and here's the important part), it was 6-max, Yes, I've decided that, notwithstanding the bot threat, the easier availability of 6-max makes it, at least temporarily, a necessary game of choice on Noble Poker. If things go okay I will extend to two-tabling, and thence up in limits. Whether I'll make it a game of choice on the other sites I am not sure, but it's clear that more rake is generated (hence more rakeback) and you get more action (although this is not necessarily a good thing for me) which means more gamblers.

Of course, playing games where you need the best hand at the end puts me at a certain disadvantage, because I am so fucking unlucky, but I was getting a bit more into the swing of things by the end, working out the ranges of people rather more accurately. And, hell, it's quite fun bashing in that raise button more often, and calling down with remarkably thin hands because it's quite likely your opponent has 6-4 off.

6-max is also the closest to my current game, requiring less of a radical shift. If it doesn't work out, there are other choices, but this is a pleasant change for the moment.

I'm also considering keeping fewer records. Just play the games and let Pokertracker keep records, and not worry about anything else. This is an astoundingly hard thing for me to do, but I think that it has to be done. So, fewer intrinsic details on the blog, although I may crack at any time.
