Texas Hold'em NL $0.50/$1.00

Seat 1: dolce5885 ($19.00 in chips)
Seat 2: Villain_1 (28%/13%) ($59.39 in chips)
Seat 4: cinu18 ($21.52 in chips) DEALER
Seat 6: Hero ($115.40 in chips) (Small Blind)
Seat 7: Kaschey ($28.03 in chips)
Seat 9: Villain_2 ($120.90 in chips)
Seat 10: VaeLapsi ($100.00 in chips)

Hero: Post SB $0.50
Kaschey: Post BB $1.00

Dealt to Hero [8♡ 9♡]

Villain_2: Raise $3.00
VaeLapsi: Fold
dolce5885: Call $3.00
Villain_1: Call $3.00
cinu18: Fold
Hero: Call $2.50

with all the other callers, my suited connector is getting value here. I like only one (late position) raiser or an early raise with a lot of callers, which might give me protection if my hand hits a draw.

Kaschey: Fold
*** FLOP *** [8♣ K♡ 9♣]
Hero: Check

I can bet out the pot here or go for a check-raise. I can’t see that flop being checked round, so I decide to go for the check-raise

Villain_2: Bet $4.00

That looks very tentative to me. A typical weak follow-up by pre-flop raisers who don’t really have any plan in mind if they get multiple callers

dolce5885: Fold
Villain_1: Raise $12.00

Hmm, looks like he’s read it as tentative as well. But it’s hard to see whhat I am losing to here. KK he would have reraised. K8 and K9 I would have thought he would have folded, alhough K9s is a possibility, I guess. 88 and 99 are possible and, if so, I’m coolered. But the raise looks a bit big for 88 or 99. I really think that this is something like KQ of clubs, or a slow played AA (I’ve seen it done!) maybe JT of clubs or even 76 of clubs. In that ballpark.

If he’s KQ of clubs I’m probably a slight dog, and also I’m not in good chape against 67 of clubs. Against AA I’m favouite (3-to-1 or thereabouts, depending on whether one of the aces is a club), but if you add in the fact that he might be reading Mr Man for a weak hand and be “trying it on” with something like KQ one club or TT one club, I like my hand enough to punt here.

Hero: Raise $32.00
Villain_2: Fold
Villain_1: Allin $44.39
Hero: Call $24.39
*** TURN *** [2♣]
*** RIVER *** [7♠]

Dealt to Villain_1 [K♣ 7♣]

I liked this one.

Seat 1: MichaelRua ($111.45 in chips)
Seat 2: Villain_1 ($127.13 in chips)
Seat 4: cinu18 ($41.82 in chips) DEALER
Seat 5: manou59 ($89.90 in chips)
Seat 6: Hero ($97.00 in chips)
Seat 7: Michelhenri ($36.30 in chips)
Seat 9: Villain_2 (30%/10% over 40 hands) ($111.50 in chips)
Seat 10: VaeLapsi ($97.90 in chips)
manou59: Post SB $0.50

Hero: Post BB $1.00

Dealt to Hero [T◊ T♣]

Michelhenri: Fold
Villain_2: Raise $3.00
VaeLapsi: Fold
MichaelRua: Call $3.00
Villain_1: Call $3.00
cinu18: Fold
manou59: Fold
Hero: Call $2.00

*** FLOP *** [J♣ 5◊ J♠]
Hero: Check
Villain_2: Bet $4.00

This is way too tentative again. It might be AK, but I reckon it’s more likely QQ and he wants to get to showdown cheaply. AK, he would probably check.

MichaelRua: Call $4.00

I know this guy. He plays a lot and he’s not rubbish. I think he has the same thing in mind.

Villain_1: Fold
Hero: Call $4.00

Unfortunately my cold-call kind of spoils Michael’s party.

*** TURN *** [5♣]
Hero: Check
Villain_2: Bet $5.00

You can almost see the guy trying to work out how he can get to the river and showdown as cheaply as possible.

MichaelRua: Fold

Michael’s scared of two players, both of whom he suspects might be talking shit, but both of them need to be talking shit for Michael to win. I think he could risk raising here. But he decides to take the quiet option.

Hero: Raise $35.00

I’m just determined to be aggressive at the moment. If opponent has AK, then I should raise. If he has QQ to AA, then I should raise or fold. There’s no scenario where calling is right.

Villain_2: Fold

I still think I might have pushed the guy off QQ here, although with the 2-pair on board, perhaps he wanted to see if his Ace kicker was good. I’ve played a kind of reverse float. But making the move on the turn is far more convincing than a check-raise on the flop. And it has the added advantages of (a) making more money to be won and (b) making it harder for opponent to call. He has to assume that he’s playing for all of his chips here. Not a big win on the hand, but one that I felt was relatively risk-free. And, hell, maybe I was in front :-)

*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot $62.80 Rake $1.70
Hero: wins $62.80

I'd be astonished if Villain_2 in the second hand folded QQ! Your bet looked like exactly what it was - a pocket pair forcing overcards to fold. I would say he had AK/AQ.
