To Carluccio's yesterday for lunch. Paté and Lasagna, both done well. And then the afternoon brought the yearly business round-up for the Insurance and Banking division, at which they foolishly decided to give me "Scoop of the year" award for the Swiss Re story. Actually, they just give these £25 gift vouchers to different people every year, and I think they thought that it was my turn. Some of the recipients were really quite excited about what they were going to spend their gift voucher on. Like I say, I have little in common with these people.

After the meeting there were company drinks, which meant that I didn't get home until about 8pm and I was shattered, and only had time to scoff a pizza before I fell asleep. Needless to say, this meant that my body thought that it was a four-hour sleep rather than an eight-hour sleep, so I woke up at 1am. Eventually I gave up trying to get back to sleep, got up and played an hour on Empire at 5-10.

The game is definitely easier at that time of night. And in the 100 hands I played I felt that I was on my 'A' game. By the end, I felt that I had wasted just one big bet (I failed to bet for value on the river when I just might have been called by a serial disbeliever). I still lost $7, but given that I got three pairs (2s, 5s, 6s) and won with two of them, despite not hitting a set. And given that I didn't get a whisper of a straight, a flush, or a decent flop, that's a pretty good performance. My stats for those 100 hands were flops seen - 6.5%. raises - 4.9%. % hands won when flops seen - 50% (i.e., three). Showdowns won - 100% (i.e., one out of one). No laydowns on the river either.

I'll get round to posting the November figures tonight.
