I see that the headings for LiveJournal continnue to behave irrationally, and I wonder if this is some obscure attempt by LJ to push people to paid accounts. Admittedly I'm using an LJ style sheet (and system) that went out with the Ark (i.e., in 2008, when most of the LJ employees were presumably still at school -- a year ago seems far longer when you are still in your teens).

I am at home today because the kitchen rebuilding is about to begin. All of the room has been emptied, although I have not been quite sure what to do about the fridge, which is going to need moving. I've basically just emptied it of as much stuff as possible.

I may be living on chocolate biscuits, crisps, microwave meals out of plastic containers, takeaways and vitamin pills for the next three weeks.

After a week or so of treading water on the tables (actually I was still $300 up over 14 days, which I suppose should be seen as satisfactory) I went on a tear last night on Pacific, chopping it off for 5 buy-ins before giving half a buy-in back. This was one of the first times that I followed the rule of not quitting when running well, and it worked. I was about $250 up when I reached quitting time, but I said "I'll keep playing until I fall back to $200".

I then got lucky. Of course, if I'd got unlucky, I'd be mildly cursing that I didn't quit at my alloted time.

Some might criticize the mini-reraise from me, but it's been working well in this kind of situation. It certainly increases the volatility of the hand, but it's becoming necessary to cultivate volatility to keep up the win-rate. I won't rehash all the old arguments for the bigger raise. Most of you know them and I certainly do.

Anyhoo, that win pushed me to $3,000 for the month, which is a nice start, particularly since I felt I had a least one "fallow" week. Indeed, slightly better-than breaking even that week was probably my best achievement of the month!

+++++++++++

I have been writing away this morning and I had a bit of a start when I spell-checked a document. I had misspelt "unchanged" as "unchange" "Change?" asked spellcheck.

Well, perhaps you had to be there, but it slightly threw me for a second (can you be "slightly thrown"? Or is that like "a bit pregnant"?)
