Well, it's been an absolutely shit last 10 days of the month, bringing the gain down to $1,600 (from a peak of nearly $3k) and the hourly rate to $13.72. Worse, most of the win was in bonuses, because I played a shedload of hands (about 40,000). This was all a recipe for that classic poker feeling of "what a waste of fucking time". Although I ran bad (particularly on Stars) the whole thing just didn't feel too good.

I don't think this is going to be a good year. I have to do some thinking.

Sorry to read it, though that's still your second best January ever.

I enjoy reading about all your winning, enjoyment and progress and do think it should be recognised, even cheerled, so to speak - but if I'm putting excess pressure on you so that a merely very good month, rather than a best-ever one, has become disappointing then I shall hush.

In fact, on checkin, I see that my per-100 hands rate was $4.75, of which about $3.90 was bonuses!.

I think the fact that you're beating the rake shows that you're better than average for the levels at which you're playing - and beating the rake even before the rakeback, at that.
